One can almost understand the logic behind crazy emails or Facebook status updates. One can certainly understand the logic behind the angry Twitter update. It’s a heat of the moment kind of invincibility that steals over the brain. But this, THIS takes a kind of premeditated douchebaggery. To send home this pre-social media era letter explaining why Alex has detention.

Nobody else in the class knew this? Or looked it up on their phones? Were they all concerned with submitting to authority above learning and understanding information? What, exactly is school for? Learning how to be still for your entire life in your boring job? School could be about gaining understanding. At least it’s about memorizing facts.

The answers to your Questions is YES and YES.Our school system is based on the Prussian system in Germany before Hitler came into power.I don’t have much on details but it is designed to minimise the risk of revolution,for instance sports competition between student is meant to reduce brotherly unions thus reducing organized resistance.And I must say it works quite well considering the facism that is tolerated in this country.

You’re damn right my kids will question authority. Question, defy, and speak out against ignorance, dishonesty, and other general wrongness. This teacher was just angry because his/her precious little authority stance was compromised due to their own sheer idiocy.
It seems obvius that this is just another one of those people that took a job that gives them authority over people but really has no business leading ANYONE. Another person that believes WHO is right is more important than WHAT is right. GOOD for that kid.

Back in the sixth grade, my teacher insisted there were only seven planets. When one little boy went so far as to bring in the Encyclopedia Britannica to show her that there were, in fact, NINE planets (Pluto still counted as a planet), she upended his desk and dumped everything out in full view of the class. AND he got sent to the principal’s office. So much for private education.

Well… I would ask my child to go to school next day and say to the same teacher that he’s an idiot and “my parents agree to another detention hour as this only prooves our common opinion”…
Ah, teacher authority. In sixth grade, the teacher tried to tell us that ALL gerunds end in “ing.” I not only got detention for disagreeing, but he gave me zeros on my next two tests. My mother (College English Professor) went in and defended me at parent teacher conference. He had the nerve to tell her that she had no idea about teaching, English grammar, or keeping a gradebook. The principal nearly died laughing when my mother roasted the teacher.
I went to a Japanese high school for a week, just to see what it was like. During English class, the teacher insisted that 2 words rhymed with each other (I can’t remember what they were…) My friend, who was very skilled in English, asked me if it was correct. It was NOT… even in an Austrailian accent the two words did not rhyme… The teacher refused to believe me…
Even though the mile/kilometer story is not true, I think enough people have had teachers who hate kids enough to do something like that. Some teachers get burned out and just don’t give a fuck anymore.
i told a teacher that 2×2 equals 4 but he said it was 9 like is he retarded or something so i went home and came back to school the next day and found the teacher and type 2×2 out and it said 9 am i retarded i think i typed 3×3
