OMG you really need to get some sense of humor. This website is dedicated to crazy people and the odd emails and such they create. Hence the name EMAILS FROM CRAZY PEOPLE. If you feel bad about laughing @ crazy people…then why exactly are you looking @ this website? You wouldn’t look at Lolcats if you hated all types of felines cute or otherwise, so hating the humor of crazy people, elderly or not, should keep you away from this website generally, shouldn’t it?

Actually 911 tapes (at least in my State anyway) are not just up for public domain. 911 calls contain personal information which cannot be randomly obtained by the public. I worked at a 911 center, and while we could talk about the calls we got, we could not even name their general location or give any information which may reveal the identity of the caller or concerned parties.

There may be circumstances where people can obtain excerpts of 911 calls however (although I have no idea how, most likely, again in at least my state, they must be subpoenaed by a court). If played in a public setting, all identifying information must be removed.

I’m also surprised at other 911 dispatchers responding and indicating this woman was suffering from Altzheimer’s. Someone suffering from delusions, such as the lazor beams, is more likely contributed by schizophrenia, medication side effects, or something brain related such as an anyeurism or injury of some sort. (also a psych major).

Calls like this aren’t usually considered an abuse because the caller doesn’t realize that the situation isn’t real. What’s considered an abuse are those parents that give their kids broken cell phones with a good battery in it and then they call 9-1-1 and say things like, “there’s someone that was shot outside my house!” :\ grrrrr.

Not really. It’s really sad when you have to talk a person with severe dementia through the process of opening the door for the officers to get to them.

As a 9-1-1 operator, this call reminded me of quite a few off my callers. My favorite one is the caller that called 9-1-1 asking to be transferred to President Obama. She seriously thought we had a direct dial line for him! My response, “I’m sorry ma’am, but we only send out the police, fire and/or ambulance; if you want the White House, you’ll have to call 4-1-1.”

There is a county in California now that is charging people who call 911 and hang up. If a police officer is sent out there and there is no problem, they get a bill for like $250.00.

When I get older I know I’m going to be the dirty old lady with Alzheimer’s. Now, if the people in the old folk’s home don’t laugh at that, they have no sense of humor.
